OnePlus has now been in the smartphone industry for years. We have seen the company take a meteoric rise from the early days of the OnePlus One. Also, OnePlus had hit a low with the OnePlus 2 and the OnePlus X. However, the company managed to bounce back which is commendable. We have now come to the 6th iteration of OnePlus flagships. We are going to see OnePlus 7 being released by the company very soon. Now, OnePlus’ CEO has revealed a piece of key information regarding its upcoming flagship phone.
In a chat with CNet on the sidelines of MWC 2019, OnePlus CEO revealed that OnePlus 7 will not have a popular feature. This feature is wireless charging support on the device. With wireless charging, you can place your smartphone on any charging pad and it charges without any cords attached. This feature is a very convenient one and is requested from last year to OnePlus.
However, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that we won’t be seeing it at least for the next flagship. But there was no revelation about wireless charging support for the OnePlus 7T. Nonetheless, you are now aware that the OnePlus 7 will not have wireless charging so you should make your decision according to that.
Along with this information, OnePlus CEO also mentioned the reason for not including wireless charging. Pete Lau told that wireless charging has still not matured enough. Currently, Wireless Charging tends to make the phone warm or even overheating happens in some cases. Therefore, it needs to be solved at first.
Also, Wireless Charging is not anywhere near Fast Charging in terms of charging speeds. On top of that, we know the prowess of OnePlus in Fast Charging due to its Dash Charge (now Warp Charge). If we have a rethink then the reasons seem valid for not including Wireless Charging. However, one would argue that having the option of Wireless Charging would be great for a flagship in 2019.
