Google has finally done what many people were asking for. And this is to launch a budget Pixel smartphone. This is because people were complaining that Pixel smartphones are great but somewhat overpriced. With the Pixel 3a series, Google wants to grab a hold of the mid-range smartphone market as well. Google claims that Pixel 3a series has the same camera as the Pixel 3 series. But it costs half the price of what the Pixel 3 costs. This is true at least in the US markets.
Talking about Pixel 3a series’ pricing, Google announces Pixel 3a starting at just $399. This is exactly half of the $799 price for the Pixel 3. For the Pixel 3a XL, the prices go up to $499. In our opinion, this is a great price for the Pixel 3a series in the US as you get the same picture quality as the Pixel 3. Not to forget that Pixel 3 currently has the best smartphone camera on par with Huawei P30 Pro. But we should also consider that Pixel 3 was launched in 2018 whereas Huawei’s P30 Pro was launched this year.

We know that with reduced price comes some compromises. So the Pixel 3a series has a plastic build instead of the glass construction on its flagship series. Apart from that, it comes with just 64GB of internal storage and 4GB RAM. Google’s Pixel 3a series is powered by Snapdragon 670 processor which is a premium mid-range SoC.
But you do get a headphone jack which was missing from the Pixel 3. Along with that, you get fast charging support along with a 3700 mAh battery. What is surprising though is the Indian pricing of Pixel 3a series. Google has announced that Pixel 3a will start at Rs. 39,999 in India whereas Pixel 3a XL will be sold for Rs. 44,999. This means that Pixel 3a is sold at $100+ more in India than its US pricing.
