Apple surprised the iPod fans yesterday with an announcement. The company announced that it is refreshing the iPod Touch. The latest iPod Touch from Apple will come with A10 Fusion chip. This is the same chip which was available on iPhone 7 released in 2016. However, we also understand that the iPod Touch does not require the fastest chip out there so it might be enough.
That being said, the iPod Touch also comes with a base variant of 64GB. But the storage on iPod Touch exceeds up to 256GB. Previously, the iPod Touch was available with Apple’s A8 chip which was seen on iPhone 6. Apple says that the latest iPod Touch supports Group FaceTime video calls and ARKit. This was not supported on previous iPod Touch devices so it is a new feature.
Also, the compact factor of the iPod Touch may also attract some buyers. It also remains to be the best option for kids who want to use a smart device to listen to music, do video calls and other stuff. Also, Parents feel comfortable that their kids have an iPod Touch which does not have social media or other stuff on their kids’ phones.
iPod Touch 2019 just weighs 88 grams which are half the weight of smartphones out there. So it is also a pleasant experience to carry around for longer durations. Apple claims a 40 hours battery life for the latest iPod touch with music playback and 8 hours of battery time with video playback on a single charge.
However, the Indian pricing of iPod Touch might be a deal breaker. The price of 32GB iPod Touch in India starts at Rs. 18,990 whereas the iPhone SE is available for just Rs. 16,990 in India. On the other hand, iPod Touch with 256GB storage is available for Rs. 38,990 whereas the iPhone 7 is available for even lesser price. Thus, we will have to wait and see how the iPod Touch performs in the Indian markets.
