According to DigiTimes, Apple plans to equip future AirPods wireless headphones with light sensors. For what?
It is not clear why such sensors should appear in the headphones. In smartphones, as we know, sensors adjust the brightness of the screen depending on the lighting in the room or on the street, but the headphones have no screen. Most likely, these sensors will be linked to the work of biometric functions – such as heart rate monitoring and determination of blood oxygen levels.
It is noteworthy that rumors about health monitoring features in AirPods appeared in the first half of 2019. In addition, one of Apple’s patents describes a headphones-based health monitoring system.
